Shurijo Castle Park has been established as an attractive center for history and culture. As the managing body of the park, Okinawa Prefectural Government will create an environment where many visitors can come and learn about Shuri Castle, the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom, and current Ryukyuan culture that developed from this past. To do so, working with the national government, the prefectural government intends to achieve the following:

(1) Short-term utilization of the national and prefectural areas

As for usage of the park facility inside Shurijo Castle Park including exhibitions, storage of artifacts, guided tours, workshops, events, dining, and rest areas, the prefectural government is seeking ways to cooperate with the national government. Upon making decisions such as this one, we must consider national and prefectural areas as a whole, and make sure to provide visitors with an attractive “story” that details the history and charm of Shuri Castle, and also ensures comfortable visits and tours for the visitors.
Especially as regards to displaying or storing exhibitions such as valuable artifacts, we will utilize new technology to exhibit and find ways to create a facility to display registration work as well as include displays and explanations of damage caused by the fire.

(2) Realizing a diverse and flexible facility

While paying respect to sacred spaces in Shuri Castle history, Okinawa Prefectural Government plans to facilitate multipurpose usage of the facility with the cooperation of the national government.
In particular, we aim to create Shuri Castle as an attractive place for learning and visiting in order to appreciate, learn, experience, and socialize, making it a symbolic place to promote the culture and history of Shuri Castle.
